Southern Way Special Issue

Following the end of World War 2, the Southern, the LMS and the LNER sent delegations to North America to examine the development there of large diesel locomotives for freight and passenger train haulage. The outcome of this investigation was the construction of two diesel engines for the LMS and three for the Southern.

It is these three - 10201,2 and 3 - whose story is told by Kevin Robertson in this book. The first, 10201, was completed at Ashford in 1950 and exhibited at the Festival of Britain the following year.

This comprehensive account features technical details and many photographs, including a few in colour.

Noodle Books, 2007, 104 pages. Softback.
