Bluebell News Spring 2011
There's an agreeable Southern photograph on the cover of the new issue, showing P Class 178 (the forgotten engine until last year) with two Maunsell carriages in tow, passiong Three Arch Bridge en route to Horsted Keynes. The rear cover reminds us of what December was like as C Class 592 departs from Horsted Keynes for Kingscote with the Victorian Christmas Special.
Inside, the 103rd birthday of our President, Bernard Holden M.B.E. is marked and there is aso coverage of waste removal just south of East Grinstead to clear the way for the final link in our extension.
The arrival of a BR Mark 1 Kitchen Car to operate, for a while, with our Golden Arrow set, receives comprehensive coverage as does our Branch Line Weekend in March where the engines seen are all at least 100 years old.
Two and a half pages are devoted to the story of our LB&SCR Directors' Saloon and the news that detailed specifications are being drawn up, prior to an appeal to raise funds to restore this coaching stock classic.
Readers familiar with Kingscote, a true country station, will find the story of its acquisition and restoration makes interesting reading as do the regular departmental reports and readers' letters.
Click on the cover image for a photo of P Class 323 Bluebell and its happy restoration team.
BRPS, 36 pages.
