Return to East Grinstead

The Bluebell Railway has, over the years, gradually extended its line. The first major project was to revive the abandoned track between Horsted Keynes and Kingscote. From there it is a relatively short distance to East Grinstead but completing the final stretch has proved to be a lengthy and costly process.

This new video shows how the final obstacle - a cutting filled with refuse - is being cleared; for part of this operation a Class 73 electro-diesel was hired. It is seen at work during this presentation along with an open day at East Grinstead and footage of the new station being built.

Including in this production is archive film of the last train in 1958 and a cab ride in 73136 between Sheffield Park and Kingscote.
