The Moonlight Express relates to running a train to bring his grandmother to Peter's house for her birthday party with the return journey being in the dark.
As with previous book, Christopher has included some easily understood descriptions of aspects of locomotives and railways; this time it's pistons, valves, bearings and turntables.
