The Ventnor West Branch Line
The Ventnor West (originally Town) branch opened in 1897, running south from Merstone. It was hoped that visitors would arrive at Cowes and make their way to Ventnor but the established route from Ryde to Ventnor via Sandown carried most of the trade. Peter A.
