A Southern Electric Album
The Southern was a pioneer in electrification of its suburban lines, providing a fast and frequent service for commuters. Further strides were made with electrification of lines to Portsmouth, Brighton and Eastbourne and, in the early 1950s, main lines in Kent were converted. Michael Welch has collected a fine selection of photographs to which he has added much useful information in the captions. Capital Transport, 2003, 96 pages, Hardback.
