The New Romney Branch Line

This line was built speculatively by the South Eastern Railway to serve the proposed train ferry port at Dungeness, which never materialised. The branch was then extended to New Romney to give it some purpose. Today, although now cut back to its original terminus, as Peter A. Harding recounts it still carries traffic of great national importance.
