Branch Lines from Brookwood

Passengers speeding through Brookwood today will probably not realise that once there were two secondary railways branching off from this suburban station. One connected Bisley, Pirbright, Deepcut and Blackdown Camps to the main line, the other carried funeral trains to Brookwood Cemetery from the Necropolis platform at Waterloo. The cemetery railway had two stations - one for non-conformists, one for Anglicans.

Peter Harding has produced a fascinating account of these minor but significant lines in a book which includes some excellent illustrations and useful maps.
