Salisbury Steam Finale (DVD) |

|
Twenty one years after steam traction bowed out on the Southern, a special train was arranged by Gerald Daniels, British Rail Area Manager, Salisbury. It covered the West of England main line from Andover to Yeovil, hauled by West Country Pacific 34092 City of Wells.
On the reversible lines between Templecombe and Yeovil the Southern Region route filming saloon paced the train and these shots, combined with those from a camera on the footplate, provide a distinctive record of a thrilling ride.
