One the first undertakings embarked upon by the Southern Railway was to complete a project first proposed by the South Eastern & Chatham Managing Committee to rationalise the railways in Thanet. The abandoned stub to the harbour in Ramsgate was given a new lease life serving day trippers, as Peter A. Harding recalls.
